Meet Claire
Welcome to Clarity Therapy. I'm Claire Courtney, LCSW, and I'm glad you're here.
Choosing to begin therapy isn't always easy. It's an investment in yourself, your relationships, and the future you want to create.
I provide virtual therapy for adults, couples, teens, and children ages 10+ throughout Virginia and Colorado. I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, parenting struggles, neurodivergence, disordered eating, grief, relationship challenges, and life's many transitions.
Life isn’t gentle on us
That's exactly why I believe that if we're laughing and feeling relaxed during a session, we're doing something right.
Therapy can be challenging, but it doesn't have to feel heavy every time we meet. In fact, I don't think it should. People do their best growing when they're calm enough to let down their guard.
My goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and respected—where you can show up exactly as you are and be honest without worrying about saying the "right" thing.
I'll help you notice the patterns, strengths, and possibilities that can be difficult to see from the inside. You are the expert on your own life. My role isn't to tell you who to be—it's to walk alongside you as you discover what comes next.
Education and experience
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both Virginia and Colorado. I earned my Master of Social Work from Fordham University and my Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Before entering private practice, I worked in a variety of settings supporting children and families through some of their most challenging times. In one of those roles, I had the privilege of collaborating with occupational therapists, speech therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, and board certified behavior analysts to provide thoughtful, comprehensive support.
My broader clinical experiences includes permanency work with families at risk of separation, crisis support through the National Sexual Assault Hotline (NSAH) with the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), and providing individualized support to children on the autism spectrum as a Registered Behavior Technician. Through each of these experiences, I have witnessed the power of being truly heard and the impact of a few genuinely shared kind words. I have come to understand that meaningful change often begins with the simple yet life-changing experience of feeling understood and supported.
I have training in Trust-Based Relational Intervention® (TBRI®) and draw on evidence-based approaches while tailoring therapy to each individual's needs. These experiences continue to shape the way I practice today. I believe in collaboration, respecting each person's perspective, and doing what is ultimately best for my clients.
